Sable Minor Palms
These are Sable Minor Palms planted in 2008. They have tripled in size since planting! They are a species of palm once thought to be indigenous to this area. Our environmental friends from the City of Virginia Beach encouraged us to showcase these plants as we established the new golf course layout!

Winter Work
One of our Team members that often goes unnoticed is our Equipment Technician, Mr. Wesley McClung. Each winter Wesley takes each piece of equipment and does a full maintenance analysis which includes but is not limited to oil and fluid checks, painting, refurbishing, changing hoses and any other issues that might develop through the season.
This process enhances the operation and extends the life of our valuable equipment.

Enjoy the course!!
Fall is always a great time to enjoy the golf course!! Get your rounds in before we battle winter's cold temperatures!
Overgrowth
It's been a couple years due to some projects, but we're working on restoring boundaries and eliminating overgrowth from select areas.
New Grill Station
Special thanks to Emily Rothrock for negotiating with some local vendors to create a new Grill station outside the lounge areas. Our team prepped the area last week, but due to the rain on Monday the installation was delayed until November 16th. We appreciate your patience and look forward to more grilling in 2016.
New Plant Material
Kudos to Emily Rothrock, Drew Proctor and Craig Grey for continuing to raise the bar around the Club grounds. Here's some new plant material being installed over the last couple days!

Yellow lines in the fairway
We've outlined sections of fairway #1, #3, #13 and #18 for Spring Dead Spot trials. These trials will test the latest chemistries available for those pesky circles we get each spring on the fairways and tees. We will keep these yellow lines marked to help us see the results in the spring and determine the best course of action moving forward.

Irrigation break
On a Friday afternoon, we had a quick coupler hose attachment break on the front right of #4 green. Unfortunately we don't have the part to fix it over the long Holiday weekend. We marked it GUR and should have it amended early next week. We appreciate your patience.

New sod on #15/#16
The new sod is mending in on schedule. We have been watering, fertilizing and will start the mowing process today.
Lime applications
Over the past 10 days we have been applying heavy applications of lime to the fairways. These applications are designed to help us balance the soil and fend off the Spring Dead Spot fungus we have been seeing in the spring. Lime is a form of calcium with no burning affect to on the turf.

#15/#16
Last week the Greens Committee voted to re sod the area around #15 green and #16 tee complex. Yesterday we removed all dead turf and today we are installing drainage, adding compost/topsoil and tilling in the amendments. Our prep work will continue through tomorrow with sod to arrive early next week.
All tee markers are currently on the front part of the forward tee and will move to the front part of the fairway once we install the new sod.
As always, please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions and thank you for your patience.

Sandy Waste Areas
In an effort to make the sandy waste areas more player friendly we cut down and sprayed all the existing lovegrass plants. We are looking into smaller plants that will create a better playing area and the aesthetic appearance we hope to attain.

Goose grass
We've seen increased populations of goose grass this year, especially around a couple of the putting surfaces. In the interim, we have spot treated select areas with post emergent herbicides. Our post emergent practices have to be precise due to inward slopes to the putting surfaces as the chemistries could harm the Bentgrass. We have already looked at our spring pre-emergent strategies and will amend our program next year.
15 surround/16 tee
I continue to get questions regarding the declined turf around #15 green and #16 tee complex. The area was built on a sand dune which has limited moisture and nutrient holding capacity, confirmed by our soil consultant. In conjunction with a subpar soil foundation the complex receives limited sunlight through out the year due to the peripheral trees and wasn't able to sustain the cold winter weather.
